Megami Tensei
Megami Tensei is Atlus's long-running role-playing universe, built on demon recruitment and moral ambiguity, and split into two distinct moods. The mainline Shin Megami Tensei games are bleak, apocalyptic, and unforgiving, asking players to negotiate with the monsters they fight.
The Persona spin-off took those mechanics somewhere unexpected: stylish high-school dramas about teenagers balancing social lives with dungeon-crawling, which made Persona 4 and Persona 5 the franchise's commercial breakout. This collection leans heavily on Persona, including its rhythm-game and fighting spin-offs, its anime adaptations, and even a soundtrack release, which shows how far the brand has spread beyond turn-based combat. Together the two strands make one of the most thematically serious series in Japanese RPGs, equally comfortable staging the end of the world and the anxieties of being seventeen. The crossovers and animations confirm how thoroughly Persona in particular became a lifestyle brand.
The Megami Tensei franchise spans 3 series, 29 games, 1 films, 1 music in the CrossBinge catalog.
